Volusia County

As a returning visitor to NSB with a large family for the last 9 years. I am highly offended by the way the county has slapped a HEAVY DAILY parking fee on all public parking. In the future I will take my revenue to other places where visitors are more welcomed, unless this downward trend soon changes. Over the last nine years I have watched the quality of the area decrease while county and city imposed costs increase. Simple research reveals your greed is backfiring, the revenue is only around 1/2 of what was projected - clearly I am not alone in my concerns as a tourist. FYI - to those responsible even a child could predict the devastation this continued government greed will have on business and tourism in your county.

We wanted to thank the Volusia County Council for signing the Reopening Business Grant funds. You do not know how much this will assist us in getting back in business. Representative Democracy is that democratic principle that carries a significant expectation when electing our county officials. The public trust is so dependent on promises made during election time until we hastily cast our votes never seeing the misrepresentation until months or even years after they are elected. All honesty I have had a very realistic experiences as a person of color when seeking representative democracy. The voice of the African -American population is so violently misrepresented when seeking minimum representation from our elected officials. I urge and resident living in this county to file a compliant with the Florida Ethics Commission especially people of color these officials must be held to a standard of accountability and ethics.

Think twice before you move to Volusia County or anywhere serviced by their ill maintained water distribution system. This is what our politicians expect us to cook, clean, and bathe with, let alone DRINK! All you'll get are excuses as to why it's "normal" and the county is "researching solutions." Hasn't changed in 3 years of my residency. Typical government for you. Incompetent pension collectors paid on the dime of the taxpayer.

I think Volusia County deserves credit for keeping the County Parks open in these troubled times. As long as people follow distancing guide lines a park is a good place to exercise, get Vitamin D from the sun and relieve the built up stress from staying at home. The County has also opened the Beach (don't know why sunbathing is a problem) for the rich and connected citizens to use. This is a good thing for those folks but to bad for the rest of the Volusia citizens who can't go there because of the closed parking areas.

Our county leadership has gone from bad to worse, while taxes are going from high to insane, especially property taxes and impact fees. My family will be leaving Volusia County this year after 5 years living here, 30 years for my wife who has lived here most of her life. We are building in Flagler county, something I never would have considered 10 years ago. Too bad it has gotten this way, I love the area.

I like the online portal, if you need something for your permit they politely let you know and will answer any questions very quickly that ive emailed or called over. They get 5 starts because theyre always kind and polite, faster permits weve had out so far. City of Debary is absolute torture to deal with so everyone gets 5 stars compared to them!
