The recent air show at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita was an exhilarating event that delighted attendees. The U.S. Navy Blue Angels and the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds delivered breathtaking performances with their F/A-18 Super Hornets and F-16 Fighting Falcons, respectively. Their precise formations, daring maneuvers, and high-speed aerobatics left the crowd in awe. The event also showcased various military aircraft, including the KC-135 Stratotanker and C-17 Globemaster III, providing a closer look at their capabilities and allowing for engaging interactions with pilots and crew. The show was well-organized, with efficient logistics, plenty of amenities, and a family-friendly atmosphere that made it enjoyable for everyone. Overall, the McConnell AFB air show was a thrilling celebration of aviation and a testament to the skill and dedication of our military aviators. It was a fantastic experience, and I look forward to the next one!

I’m a veteran and travel full time in my RV. I like to stay at the Famcamp at military bases whenever possible. Because I am a disabled veteran and not retired, this requires me to check in at every visitor center to get base access, so I’ve seen a lot. For whatever reason, my id doesn’t always work even after a visit to the base visitor center. McConnell AFB was no exception. What was great was the kind and personal attention I received from Selena at the visitor center. She was wonderful and very friendly. After getting turned back around at the gate, she reviewed my records and took extra time to make sure that I was able to get the proper documentation for base entry. I’m grateful for her willingness to help and wish everyone I deal with had her customer service skills. Thanks!

My husband flew the Thud at entrance #366 as I recall. Sometime between 1963-1967. Ret. Col H.L. Bodenhamer. Retired Christian Minister. Love our Air Force and McConnell. Midway thru a great career, he was a Flight instructor back around ,68 prior to heading back to USAF Academy

Required to stop here if you don’t have a sponsor present to get on the base. Sometimes there is a line and it doesn’t move fast (paperwork be paperwork). And Grace costs you nothing. Just be sure to have all your documents in order.

Great visit. It was one of the nicest AFB I've visited.
